From: Nancy Parr Giamerese Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2013 21:22:45 -0500 (EST) BEGIN Mary Ella Decker and Howard Phillip Snook were married after Howard's first wife, my grgrgrandmother Phebe E. Utter died in 1893. I would have to check exactly when Mary Ella and Howard married. David Howard Lake was married to Lillian Scudder. Howard Phillip Snook died in Dec 1925, but I have no idea what exactly was going on, as Mary Ella Decker was living with David Howard Lake in 1920 before he was divorced from Lillie Scudder. The census lists both David and (Mary) Ella as married (not to each other) and she is listed as his housekeeper. I bet they were keeping house together from what my grandmother told me!! Eda Belle Snook Parr was Howard Phillip Snook's granddaughter by Joseph Allen Snook Sr. and Lucy Lake, dau of Alvah Decker Lake and Sarah Cordelia Mikesell. My grandmother was born in 1900 so Mary Ella and Howard's kids were in her age bracket. She always laughed when she mentioned Mary Ella. I guess she found her step-grandmother's behavior a little immoral!! However, I have to share with you that my grandmother's own stepmother ran a house of ill-repute! I will forever remember the day she revealed that fact to my mother! I am still laughing! Keep in mind that my grandmother's grandmother Sarah Cordelia Mikesell Lake was Seventh-day Adventist!! Must have been some learning curve!! Jesse Lake's 2nd wife Rhoda Trowbridge must have been married to a Higgins first. Do you have more information on Sandra Holm, daughter of William Holm and Eleanor Lillian Lake as I believe she and I graduated from Morris Hills Regional High School together in 1963? END From: Nancy Parr Giamerese Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2013 12:15:53 -0500 (EST) BEGIN Eleanor Lillian Lake was the daughter of Andrew D. Lake and Mildred Dunn. Andrew was son of David H. Lake and Lillian Scudder---as per Peggy's info on your web site. It took me a while to notice this, but Sandra S. Holm changed her name to Sandra S. Haynes. I am not sure which husband of Eleanor Lillian Lake was actually Sandy's father: George D. Haynes or William Holm. Sandy m. 2nd Herbert Kupperman, M.D. He was her senior by 31 years. Sandy died in 1998 at age 53---perhaps from something like breast cancer--- as there is a health foundation named: The Sandra S. Haynes Kupperman Foundation in Morristown. That is only a guess so don't quote me. 53 is really young to die. I don't know why I did not notice the Haynes matched her mother's first husband. I am really not sure which man was her birth father. In the posting on your site, it does not clarify the actual identity of her father nor does it reflect her name change. I will email Peggy again and see if she knows which was the birth father rather than speculate as I see multiple possibilities and reasons for the name change. Sandy was a very bright person and made National Honor Society so we sat near each other for graduation. The society members sat in front of the rest of the class of 367 graduates. She used the name Sandra S. Holm in school so I have no idea when she took the name Haynes. I believe she became a legal secretary, but maybe she switched to medical secretary. I believe Dr. Herbert Kupperman was well-known and probably gave Sandy a great life. No children from either of her marriages are mentioned anywhere. The only thing I noticed was a Mitchell Kupperman connected to her, but I have no idea if this was a stepchild or her own child or just someone in her husband's family. END From: Nancy Parr Giamerese Date: Thu, 14 Feb 2013 15:20:43 -0500 (EST) BEGIN Elwyn Edward Webb was the grandson of Katie Lake (dau of Jesse Lake Jr. and Rhoda Trowbridge) and George E. Webb. Isaac Lake was son of Alva/Alvah Decker Lake, Jr. and Margaret M.______. Lewis Applegate was the son of Arthur B. Applegate and Cora Mae Ader. Cora's parents were David/Daniel P. Ader and Hannah Elizabeth Emmons. Cora's grandparents were Isaac Ader and Catharine Beam---another Lake connection. Avery Waldron was brother of Kenneth Waldron who was m. to Elsie Irene Snook dau of Lucy Lake and Joseph Allen Snook, Sr. Ken and Avery were born in Rockland Co., NY to Cramner Waldron and his wife Lena. Not sure which Waldron was connected to the children of Howard Phillip Snook and his daughter Anna Mae and also one connected to his granddaughter by Mary Ella Decker who m. David H. Lake. (See Peggy's entry on your site. Mystery I would like to solve.) END
