END transcription of Newspapers->Deaths->5.15.jpg Probably from a Wyoming County, Pennsylvania newspaper in June of 1912: BEGIN Enterprise readers who are aquainted with Mr. Magee. [It appears some of the article may be missing here.] The deceased was a former resident of Auburn township going West about three years ago. At 7 o'clock Wednesday evening William Magee, foreman on the big Water Hill farm at Northcote, Minnesota, was accidently killed. The men on a plowing outfit were returning home from the field and as the large steam engine, pulling the gang of plows behind got into the bridge at Section 1, Town of Hampden, the bridge gave way, the whole outfit crashing down through it. It was all done so quickly that not one of the crew seemed to realize what had happened till it was discovered that the body of their foreman was pinned between the plows and the engine and was being scalded to death. It was later learned that death must have been instantaneous when the body was squeezed between the plows and engine, as the man's chest was badly mashed. Mr. Hill brought the body to R. B. Johnson's undertaking rooms in this city, yesterday morning where Corner [sic] Dahlquist held the inquest. As a result of the horrible accident, all of the Hill farmhands were still yesterday, even a word spoken among the men was scarcely above a whisper, so large is the grief over the loss of their foreman. Mr. Hill said to our reporter: "Every man on the farm highly respected and thought the world of our foreman." and Mr. Hill's personal tribute was: "I never seen a man as good in any position as he was in his and I can never hope to see one." To show the respect, every man on the farm came to Hallock yesterday to act as pall bearers in bringing the remains to the station when the body was shipped to Kalispell, Mont., for interment. The remains were accompanied by Mr. Hill and a son of the deceased, who had been working with his father. Mr. Magee had been foreman of the Hill Farm for the past 10 months and won for himself the distinction of honesty, fair dealing and reliable among all with whom he had anything to do and won admiration of every man under him. The position he has held will be hard to fill with a man of equal capabilities. The deceased was 46 years of age leaving a family in Kalispell, Montana, to mourn his loss.--Northcote, Minn., paper. A wife and six children survive the deceased. The children are: Mrs. Chas. McClung, Ruth, James, Emmet and Merl Magee, of this city, and John of Northcote, Minn. A sister, Mrs. John Kernan resides in Auburn, Pennsylvania. The funeral services were held in Kalispell, June 8, 1912, at 11 o'clock with Requim [sic] High Mass at St. Mathews, Rev. Father O'Farrar officiating. The remains were laid away in the Conrad Memorial cemetery. Among the many beautiful floral offerings was a large wreath, sent by the men who worked under him on the ranch. William Magee was born in Auburn, Pennsylvania, and came to Kalispell with his family three years ago. His place in the family is one that can never be filled, his loss will never be forgotten.--Kalispell, Mont., paper. END
