Carrie R Bush Demarest

Caroline R. Bush was the daughter of Hiram Bush and Elizabeth Blue
(or Bilyeu). She is buried in a plot at Bound Brook Cemetery next to the
Runyons and the Teeters who were aunts and uncles. Rachel Teeter and Eliza
A. Runyon were sisters of her father Hiram Bush.  According to her death
certificate, Carrie R. Demarest, married, age 34 years, occupation housewife,
died September 28, 1880 of Apoplexy. Her primary disease was valvular of
the heart. Her last place of residence was 1161 Elizabeth Ave., Elizabeth,
N.J. Buried in this same plot with Carrie were her two infant sons, Frank
and Freddy, her husband Peter J. Demarest, and her husband's second wife,
Marietta Hand Demarest.

Peter John Demarest

Obituary: "Peter J. Demarest, died in the Elizabeth Hospital Wednesday
morning from the effects of a dose of laudanum which he took Monday night
with suicidal intent. Mr. Demarest was once in business in Bound Brook with
his father-in-law, Hiram Bush. Their store occupied a portion of what is now
the Central depot park. Afterward they removed to Elizabeth, and Mr. Demarest
became a successful commission grocer in New York. Business reverses came
and of late he had contracted bad habits, thereby losing the confidence of
old friends. He was 46 years of age." [The Chronicle, Bound Brook, Friday
July 27, 1894, p. 1.]  He was son of G. W. and Catherine Demarest, born
in New York. He survived two wives (Caroline R. Bush and Marietta Hand),
and two infant children, all buried at Bound Brook Cemetery. He was buried
in this same plot without a marker.
