Daly, wife of John Daly, occurred at the Binghamton City Hospital, Thursday morning, July 28, 1927, at 5 o'clock, following an operation for cancer of the breast. The deceased was born in Auburn Township, Nov. 7, 1872, and was the only child of Charles and Alice (Keough) Thayne. She resided in the vicinity for a number of years. On April 21, 1892, she united in marriage to John R. Daly, of Elk Lake. To this union were born six children, five of whom are still living, one son, Ray, having preceded her in death seventeen years ago. His death occurred June 13, 1910. She was a loving wife and mother, where she will be missed so much in the home. She is survived by her husband, four sons Henry, Charles, Frank and Edward and one daughter, Mrs. Martin Blaisure, also two granddaughters, Ann Catherine and Mary Louise Daly and three grandsons, John, Martin and Clark Edward Blaisure, besides a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. There were many floral tributes showing the esteem in which she was held. The funeral was held from St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church, Auburn, Saturday, July 30, at 10:30 o'clock with burial in Auburn cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Gibson, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, of Montrose, of which she was a member. The bearers were Ernest Horton, Chester Crawford, Edward Horton, Jared Lowe, Leo Donahue and Harry Rogers. John Daly, aged 78 years, died at his home in Jessup township on Tuesday, March 29, 1932, from influenza. The deceased was a widely known and highly regarded farmer, and had lived on the farm, where he died, for many years. He was born in New York City on Sept. 25, 1853, but came to this county at an early age. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Thayne, whose death occurred about five years ago. Four sons and one daughter survive: Henry Daly, of Dimock township; Charles Daly and Frank Daly, Montrose; Edward Daly, Jessup, and Mrs. Martin Blaisure, of Jessup, and two brother, [sic] Peter Daly, of Olean, N. Y., and Henry Daly, of Jessup. Mr. Daly was a fine type of citizen, a friendly and obliging neighbor, generous to a fault and possessed of native congenial characteristics which endeared him to family and friends. He will be sadly missed in the community. The funeral service was held in Holy Name of Mary church, Montrose, Friday morning, the Rev. Chas. A. Murray officiating. The casket bearers were close friends of many years: Jared C. Lowe, Edward Arnold, Charles Bunnell, Chester Crawford, Ernest Emmons and Ernest Horton. Interment was made at Auburn Center. END
