He spent his youth in Milford and Bloomsbury. He moved to New York in 1884 to go to work for B. Altman & Co. After working there for a number of years, he severed his connection to engage in the leather business. He continued in this business in New York until 1913, when he purchased the business of Godfrey Emery, of Clinton. Since that time, he was one of Clinton's most enterprising business men. He was married to Frances VanSyckle Leigh, March 20, 1889. He died suddenly on Tuesday night at 11 o'clock. He was survived by his widow, a daughter, Miss Hazel Leigh Weaver, a sister, Isabelle Weaver, two brothers, Edward G. of Millstone, and Harry G. of Easton.
