William married his first wife, Barbara A. Catherine Shumaker on September 18, 1870 (See Macon County, MO. marriage records, Book E, page 129) and they had two children: William Thomas (b. 1871, d. young) and Lewis Milton (b. 1873, d. young) Broyles. William and Barbara A. were divorced on October 13, 1876 in Adair County, MO. Other sources give William and Barbara A. Catherine Broyles as the parents of Georgie Anna Eugenia Broyles (b. Jan. 30, 1879 - d. May 13, 1949) but she was born after her parents were divorced so I do not think William was her father. Deft. -----------Now at this day comes the parties herein by attorneys and all and singular the matters herein are submitted to the Court which having been seen and heard, the Court doth find that the plaintiff and defendant were legally married on or about the 18th. day of September 1870. That said plaintiff is the aggrieved and injured party. And the Court doth therefore order adjudge and decree that the bonds of matrimony contracted aforesaid be and the same are hereby dissolved. That this decree be without restraint of marriage on either party and the costs of said suit be taxed against defendant and execution issue therefor. --------------------------------------------- William married his second wife, Nancy Emeline Gunnels Dimay on August 12, 1888. Death of W. M. Broyles ---W. M. Broyles of Macon County passed away at his home in northeast La Plata, Saturday, March 6, 1915, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 22 days. ---Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. W. Nollner of the Southern Methodist church after which the remains were laid to rest in La Plata cemetery. ---Mr. Broyles was born in Macon county March 24, 1847. He was married to Emma Gunnels, Aug. 12th, 1888. In 1895 he moved to La Plata where he has since resided. He enlisted in the army during the civil war and belonged to the 42nd regiment; Co. K of the Missouri volunteers. ---He is survived by his wife, three half-brothers, Thos.
