Toulon - Mary O. Streitmatter Minton, 87, of Toulon died at 8:37
p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Mary was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Stark County, Ill., the daughter of Raymond
and Clara Jackson Turnbull. She first married Marvin Streitmatter on Feb. 14,
1942, in Missouri. He died in 1967. She then married Jack Minton in 1985
in Toulon. He died on Nov. 14, 1998.

Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.

Mary was a graduate of Illinois State Teachers College and also Bradley
University in Peoria. She taught for 32 years in LaFayette, West Jersey and
Toulon schools. Her first teaching job was at the Jack Creek School north
of Toulon. After retiring from teaching, she owned and operated the Corner
Shop in Toulon.

Mary was a member of the Toulon United Methodist Church and the Stark County
Historical Society. She was a member of the former Toulon Chapter of Order
of the Eastern Star, of which she was Past Worthy Matron.

Mary was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed going to coffee with
her friends at Connie's Country Kitchen. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting,
bingo and really loved her cats.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at DeBolt-Kidd
Funeral Home, Toulon. The Rev. Al Harmon will officiate. Visitation will
be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Eastern Star service
at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Toulon,
Toulon United Methodist Church or Kewanee Humane Society.
