Burke passed away at his home in Auburn, at the age of 70 on Saturday, February 6, 1943. Mr. Burke was born in Auburn township on June 23, 1872, and has been a life long resident here. He is survived by his wife, Ella Gill Burke; two daughters, Mary C. Burke of Little Meadows and Anne T. Burke; one son John J. Burke of Johnson City, N. Y.; three sisters. Mrs. J. J. Qualey of Carbondale, Mrs. B. Pickett of Lawton and Mrs. R. H. Donlin of Montrose, Pa. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, February 9, at 10 a.m., in St. Bonaventure's Church, Auburn Place, Rev. Fr. Thos. P. Monahan officiating with High Requiem Mass. Sweeney Mrs. Mary B. Sweeney, 82, Montrose, died Monday at the Asa Park Nursing Home, Montrose. She was the widow of George E. Sweeney, who died in 1969. Born in Auburn Twp., Susquehanna County, daughter of the late Andrew and Ella Gill Burke, she was a lifelong teacher in Susquehanna County, where she taught for over 43 years. She was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church and its Rosary Society; also the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Anne B. Burns, Montrose; a brother, John Burke, Vestal, N.Y.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Burke. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Bartron Funeral Home Inc., 74 Church St., Montrose, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Name of Mary Church, Montrose, with Msgr. Donald A. Deuel officiating. Interment, St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Auburn Twp, Susquehanna County. Friends may call Wednesday, 2 to 4, and after 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. END
