From the Independent Republican, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated July 23, 1915: BEGIN Death of Alfred L. Risley Alfred L. Risley died suddenly Tuesday morning, July 6, 1915, at his home near the Kasson Corners school house, about two miles west of Springville, aged 82 years, 8 months and 15 days. Death was due to heart trouble and old age. He had been declining in stregth for several months, and for a few days prior to his death had not been feeling as well as usual, suffering much pain. Mr. Risley was born Oct. 21, 1832, on the homestead farm now owned by his brother, Olin B. Risley, in the old house adjoining the present residence, which was built by his father in 1831. He was a son of Dwight and Marion (Lane) Risley, and a grandson of George and Roxanna (Risley) Risley, who emigrated from Gill township, Franklin County, Mass., in 1818, locating on a farm near Dimock, and later removed to the homestead farm, noted above. The deceased had spent the greater part of his life in Springville township. On November 4, 1882 he married for his second wife, Mary, the only daughter of Jacob N. and Mary C. (Raub) Vough, whose first husband was Miner Stephens. The following April Mr. Risley and his wife moved to the farm where he resided at the time of his death. He worked this farm till 1903, when he was stricken with pneumonia and a complication of diseases, which weakened his heart and disabled him for future farm labor. He has been a member of Lynn Lodge, I.O.O.F. for several years. He is survived by his wife, who is employed in a printing office in Corning, N.Y., and a step-son, J. B. Stephens, of Montrose. Two sons, Darwin L. and Charles H., died over thirty years ago. One sister, Harriet Risley, died about seven years ago. The funeral was held Thursday, July 8th, at 1:30 o'clock, at the home. Rev. Kilpatrick, pastor of the M. E. church at Springville, of which the deceased became a member several years ago, officiated. Interment in the cemetery at Lynn. END
