END From the Montrose Democrat, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated February 7, 1935: BEGIN George Lake The body of George Lake, who passed away last Thursday at his home in Plainfield, N. J., where he had lived for the past fifteen years, was brought to the home of his brother, Charles Lake, at Dimock, where the funeral was held on Monday of this week at 10:30 a.m. Services were in charge of the Rev. Roy H. Beane. Mrs. Beane sang "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" and "Abide with me." The funeral was largely attended in spite of the inclement weather which bore testimony of the large number of friends which Mr. Lake had. Interment was in the family plot in Lynn cemetery. The casket bearers were Harry Lee, H. M. Turrell, Leland Avery, Clarence Taylor, Douglas Lathrop and F. H. Bunnell. Mr. Lake suffered a stroke over a year ago and had been in failing health. Pneumonia developed about a week before his death and he was taken to a hospital, where he died. Deceased was a son of John and Joanne (Hay) Lake and would have attained his 71st year on May 5th next. He was long regarded as one of the best farmers in Dimock township, and was a fine type of citizen. Besides his wife, who was before her marriage Nettie Ely, and sister of Mrs. Stuart Ruley, Mr. Lake leaves two children to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Ralph Held and Irene Lake. Up to the time of going to Plainfield, Mr. Lake had spent his entire life in Dimock township. Riley, Springville, on Sunday. The funeral was held at 10:30 from the Riley home on Monday morning and interment made in Lynn cemetery. Miss Lake was a professional nurse and her early life was spent in Springville, where she was well known. Her death was due to pneumonia. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. George M. Lake, 93, died Monday, June 24, 1963, following an illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Held, Dimock Twp. She was the widow of George Lake of Springville and the daughter of the late Edgar and Sarah Stemples Hanley. [sic] In addition to her daughter she is survived by a grandson, Ralph Held, Jr., Newark Valley, N.Y. The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. Chester Harris, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Montrose, will officiate. Interment, Lynn Cemetery. Friends may call at the home Thursday afternoon and evening.
