END From the Montrose Independent, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated January 20, 1927: BEGIN Mrs. E. R. Lake Dies in Springville Passes Away Tuesday Morning After a Long Illness. Funeral This Afternoon After a lingering illness of about eighteen months, Mrs. Erastus R. Lake passed away at her home in Springville on Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, 1927, at 7 o'clock. Although bearing her suffering with patience, death came as a welcome relief from an incurable malady. Mrs. Lake was very well known in the community and had the regard of many friends for the fine qualities of heart and mind which were hers. She was born in Bridgewater township sixty-four years ago the coming 15th of February. Her parents were Albert and Hannah Chase and the family long lived on the farm which is now owned by Dudley Griffis. Her maiden name was Etta L. Chase. With the exception of a year spent in Dimock, Mrs. Lake had lived in Bridgewater and Springville, going to the latter place about thirty-five years ago. She was domestic in her temperment, but was for many years active in the Episcopal church of Springville, and also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of that place. Her husband, one son, Bruce O. Lake, and one daughter, Mrs. Florence McMicken, of Springville, survive, also one brother, O. W. Chase, of Montrose. The funeral will be held from her late home this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. A. Weatherly officiating. Interment in the Dimock cemetery. Lake, an aged resident of Springville, died on friday morning at his home in that place, where he had resided the past forty years. The funeral was conducted Friday afternoon by the Rev. DeLoss Smith. The Odd Fellows conducted the committal service at the grave, he having long been a member of the order.
