Samuel died October 17, 1681. "Rebecca Frisbie of Branford, widow and relict of Samuel Frisbie deceased, acknowledged to have received of John Rose her father her full portion" might relate to the settlement of the estate of her father Joseph Potter, which would have been under John Rose's control when he married Rebecca's mother. Edward Frisbie, in his will, left five shillings to 'daughter-in-law Rebekah Tyler, relict of my son Samuel.'" Rebecca married Charles Tyler in 1682 at Branford, New Haven, Connecticut Colony. She bore him two sons, and died in 1684 at only 31 years of age. "In Branford, the original burying ground was adjacent to the first log meetinghouse. When a new meeting house was built on the Green in 1701,...the old house was taken down. Its footprint has been free of tombstones ever since, save for an ancient millstone, given by F. Sherwood and Mary (Hitchcock) Boyd, as a memorial to those first settlers. Surrounding the memorial is more than three centuries of the history of the town and it’s a people. The place is Center Cemetery. The fore section of the cemetery contains the oldest stones and some of the most unique and artistic as well. Though most of the very early stones have fallen victims to the ravages of time and weather, one has been preserved from 1694... There are dozens of names whose families are still residents of Branford after 350 years including Rose, Harrison, Ward and Page; Linsley, Russell, Baldwin and Pond. There are Barkers, Frisbies, Bartholomews and Tylers. Who does not know of Blackstone, Hoadley, Plant and Palmer, all of whom gave the town its character and flavor, in their time? These are the people who populated our town in the days long past. All left their mark upon our town, and its mark which makes our town special." ~brandford-ct.gov Sources *Sanford-Shulsen Family Tree, rootsweb *The Tyler Genealogy; The Descendants of The Branford, Connecticut Line of Roger Tyler by Willard I Tyler Brigham and Calvin Cedric Tyler, Volume III,State Historical Society of Wisconsin, 1846 Family Members Parents Joseph Potter 1635–1669 Phebe Ives Rose 1642–1682 Spouses Samuel Frisbie 1655–1681 (m. 1680) Charles Tyler 1657–1738 Siblings Joseph Potter 1667–1742 Half Siblings Deborah Rose Baldwin 1671–1754 Sarah Rose Foote 1673–1741 END
