Jones, Jr in 1991: BEGIN A Marvelous discovery in Record Group 343 Sayn-Hachenburg Rechnungen gives firm proof of the emigration of Johann Christian Kuhl: in detailing the 10th penny tax paid in 1736 for Bann Maxsain, it was noted that "Peter Kuhl, Johannes Dorn, and the two sisters at Zurbach bought for 97 Rtlr. from her brother Johann Christ Kuhl, who was moved to America;" another entry in the same 1736 file reports, "Johann Christ Kuhl from Zurbach, still unmarried, (paid) 12 fl." Johann Christian Kuhl was nat. in N.J. in 1754, as "Christian Kule" (N.J. Nats). The will of Crest Cool of Amwell Twp., Hunterdon Co., N.J. was dated 10 April 1770 and proved 27 Aug 1770; in it, besides his wife and ch., he names his nephews Crest Cool and Paul Cool, Jr. as executors (Hunterdon Co. Will #793J, in very good condition). He md. Eva Maria Hummerich or Hummer (HJ); was she related to the Johann Wilhelm Humerich noted in 343 Sayn-Hachenburg Rechnungen as leaving Maxsain for America in 1736 along with Johann Crist Kuhl? He and Paul were the ancestors of many of the name of Kuhl in that county, a few of whom reached Somerset. Christian's sons were Peter, William, Philip and Christian. Barent Jacobsen Kool came from Holland to New Amsterdam prior to 1633 m. Morretje Leenderts. Sons were Jacob, Leendert, Tunis, Arent and Pieter. Tunis had a son, Tunis, who settled at Readington after 1724, and left many descendants of the name of Cole, and perhaps of Cool. END
