The house was later razed and a wooden structure was built upon its foundation. She was six years old when her father died at Jugtown, NJ. Shortly thereafter, her widowed mother returned to Mount Pleasant, NJ to live with her family. BEGIN Rev George Warne LaBaw Birth: Feb. 29, 1848 Sergeantsville Hunterdon County New Jersey, USA Death: 1927 Preakness Passaic County New Jersey, USA Minister-Writer-Genealogist Rev. George Warne LaBaw worked as a clerk in his father's store in Harlingen, NJ from the age of twelve until his sixteenth birthday. On his sixteenth birthday he enrolled at Rutgers Grammar School and graduated from Rutgers University with honors in 1869. For one year he taught school near Warrenville in DuPage County, Illinois. In 1870, he returned to New Jersey. He entered the Theological Seminary at New Brunswick, NJ and graduated and was ordained as a minister in 1873. He worked at various churches for the next sixteen years before he became the pastor of the Preakness Reformed Church in Preakness, Wayne, Passaic County, NJ in 1889. He served his congregation for 38 years. The church was founded in 1798. Rev. LaBaw served longer than any other minister. There is a plaque inside the church honoring both Rev. Warne and his wife for their service to their constituents. Rev. George Warne LaBaw married Catherine Beekman Mosher. She was the daughter of Matilda Beekman and Dr. Lewis H. Mosher, M.D. of Griggstown, NJ. Catherine Beekman Mosher LaBaw was born on March 25, 1850. Rev. George Warne and Catherine Beekman Mosher LaBaw did not have children. Rev. George Warne LaBaw wrote a history of the Preakness Reformed Church. His crowning achievement as an author is his Genealogical History of the Warne Family in America. It is a monumental genealogical work that has been utilized by countless individuals.
