DEATH OF MRS. Catharine SCOFIELD.
Mrs. Catharine Scofield, of Mount Washington, passed away on Tuesday night,
March ll, 1890, aged 83 years, from cancer of the face. The funeral Services
were held at Urbana Baptist church on Thursday, March 13th, REV. M.H. Dunham
officiating.  The subject of this obituary was born in the eastern part of
this State, and in early youth her parents moved to Jerusalem, Yates county
In 1827 she married Noah Scofield, and they at once took up their residence
on Mt. Washington, which was then a wilderness, where their Faithful labors
were crowned with a comfortable home.  Early in life they professed faith
in Christ, and united with the Baptist church, where they were long and
faithful members. Mr. Scofield died twenty years ago this present month,
leaving the deceased with four children— John Scofield, of Mt. Washington;
Mrs. Elias Chapman, of Harrington; William Scofield, of Branch County, Mich.,
Mrs. Obediah Jacobus, with whom she lived at the time of her death. All was
done that loving hands and hearts could due to smooth her pathway to the
grave, and we have this to comfort us: she trusted in Jesus, and mother is
at rest.
