from ancestry.com 6 Dec 2021 BEGIN Rites held here for Macomb native, Mrs. Nettie Bailey Gouverneur Tribune Press Wednesday, February 20. 1963 Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Lake Bailey, 89 town of Macomb native, were held Friday at the Sprague funeral home with Rev. Donald W. Barton, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Bailey, who had been an invalid for sever years and had suffered a stroke three months ago, died Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Knowlton, Old State Road. Besides Mrs. Knowlton, Mrs Bailey is survived by another daughter, Mrs. John (Gertrude) Peck, Gouverneur; eight grand children and several great grand children. She was born March 7, 1873 in the town of Macomb, a daughter of John and Mary Lake and attended Pine Hill school in the township. She was married to Oscar W. Bailey, a cheese maker in the Little Bow area, who died in 1920. Mrs. Bailey then operated a nursing home on Babcock Street for several years and later did practical nursing in the area. She retired about 34 years ago when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Knowlton.
