From Mary Canzler on March 31, 2012: BEGIN Joseph '26 was married to Julia Mizner, then to Kitty Florence Maden. I did not find that Joseph had any children with Julia, but he and Kitty had three, Belle M., Henrietta Stiles, & Tillie. I have Joseph's obituary from the Elmira Telegram. He is buried at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee. I found those image by doing a google book search. The book was History of Steuben County by W W Clayton 1879. There was a very informative piece on John. I have a great deal more details and newspaper articles, that I am sure you will find fascinating. I loved the story of Catherine making the trek from New Jersey to Yates County, NY in a covered wagon with all of those children. Another fascination for me was the parallel between Joseph & Catherine and my parents. My parents also moved from New Jersey to New York (with 4 children, having 2 more after arriving). END From Mary Canzler ... BEGIN After Julia's death, Joseph was living in Fayette, Seneca, New York as per the 1870 Federal Census. During the 1900 census, he was living in Watkins Village, now known as Watkins Glen on Franklin St. He lived in Watkins the remainder of his natural life. Julia MIZNER was born in Thompkins county, New York, October 11, 1837. In January, 1852, she was married to Joseph KISHPAUGH. Shortly afterward they came to this state, settling in this vicinity. To this union was born one son, James B. KISHPAUGH, who survives her. July 13, 1874, she was united in marriage to Harlow C. GILSON, and seven years ago they moved from the farm, northwest of town, to this village, which has since been their residence. Mrs. GILSON has been in ill health for several years, but for the past two years has been a great sufferer, of which death relieved her March 22, 1910, at the age of 73 years, five mos., eleven days. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, one son, a grandson and great-grandson, besides a large circle of neighbors and friends, who will greatly miss her. Her unpretentious life among those who best knew her left a lasting impression which will not pass away even though she has gone from us. The funeral service was held Thursday, March 24, at the residence on Fifth street, Rev. R. E. Showerman officiating, and was in charge of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a member. Interment was in the village cemetery. CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their great kindness to us in the illness and death of our wife and mother, and assure them that we have a deep appreciation of their loyalty.
