Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2009 21:22:42 -0700 From: David Flomerfelt BEGIN I didn't have any other details on William, but I went on-line to Heritage Quest 1870 Census and found him age 29& Mary 26, along with 2 children Carrie H, 6 & Alice B. 4 New Jersey, Warren Co., Frelinghuysen Twp., Series: M593 Roll: 892 Page: 71 B, ln 14. No guarantee but right down at the bottom of the same page is Abraham Cool 56 & Leah 51 along with 5 more children. New Jersey, Warren Co., Frelinghuysen, Series: M593 Roll: 892 Page: 71 B, ln 33. They always say look at the families close by, so I would bet they are related the ages are about right.. Then I went back to the 1860 Census and found Abram Cool with Leah and there was William age19 & 8 other children. New Jersey, Warren Co., Frelinghuysen Twp., Series: M653 Roll: 711 Page: 203, ln 6. So I think we got him. Wow!!! I made a couple of connections on that one, Sarah Cool married Amos A. Flummerfelt & George Cool married Ann Eliza Flummerfelt. Leah Cool maiden name was Leah N. Lewis. Amos & Ann Eliza Flummerfelt are cousins via John Flummerfelt & Euphemia Adams and Charles Flummerfelt & Eleanor Read respectively. Richland, WA, back in 1997. GEORGE COOL, was born 1852 in New Jersey and died in 1912. He lived with his parents and Grandmother Lewis in 1860 on the family farm in Frelinghuysen Township. George attended school during the census year (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 21A, 19 July 1860). In 1870 and 1880, George lived with his parents in Frelinghuysen and was employed as a farm hand. He attended school during the 1870 census year (1870 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 71B, 27 July 1870; 1880 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 320C). George married circa 1882, his second cousin once removed, (782.) Ann Eliza "Annie" Flummerfelt4, (Eleanor Read3, David Read2, Joseph Read1), the daughter of Charles and Eleanor (Read) Flummerfelt. Ann Eliza's first cousin Amos Flumerfelt married George's sister Sarah Cool. Annie was born 8 September 1858 in New Jersey and died 1940. In 1910, George and Ann lived on a farm that they owned in Hope Township on the Bridgeville Road. George was a famer. The couple had been married 28 years in 1910, they had never had any children (1910 United States Census, Enumeration District 131, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 15A, 9 May 1910). George and Ann Eliza are buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Church cemetery in Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey (Latter Day Saints Disc 2). Name also Annie with birth 1858/9. (Catherine Eastman Kennedy). Name appears on 1860 Census as Ann Eliza age 1 year. Age 11 on 1870 Census. 1880 Census is listed "as son's wife" without an age. (Probably a mistake as Mary, John's wife listed as "daughter at home".)(PM). ANN ELIZA "ANNIE" FLUMMERFELT4, was born 8 September 1858 in New Jersey, died 1940. In 1870, she lived at home with her parents in Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey. She attended school during the year (1870 United States Federal Census, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 361, 15 August 1870). Ann Eliza married circa 1882, George Cool. He was born 1852 or 1853 in New Jersey, and died 1912. In 1910, George and Ann lived on a farm which they owned in Hope Township on the Bridgeville Road. George was a farmer. The couple had been married 28 years in 1910, they had never had any children (1910 United States Census, Enumeration District 131, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 15A, 9 May 1910). George and Annie are buried in St. Johns of Hope Methodist Church yard, Hope, Hope Township, Warren County, New Jersey (LDS Disc #2). SARAH M. COOL5, was born 30 August 1845 in New Jersey and died 1924. In 1850, she lived with her parents, grandmother Rebecca Newman Lewis and step-great grandmother Eleanor Hazen Newman on the family's farm in Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey (1850 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 486B; Reuther n.d.). Sarah lived with her parents in 1860 on the family farm in Frelinghuysen Township. She was 14 years old and was no longer attending school (1860 United States Federal Census, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, New Jersey, page 21A, 19 July 1860). She married by 1870, Amos A. Flumerfelt, the son of John Flumerfelt and Euphemia Adams. They were buried in Fairview Cemetery in Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Children of Sarah M. Cool and Amos A. Flumerfelt: Amos A. Flummerfelt, son of Jno. and Ephemia was 25 in 1863 when he married. He and his father were listed as farmers and Minerva was 19, putting her birth date at 1844. She was listed as a spinster and her parents were Jno C and Maria. Father listed as a farmer. Residences listed as what looks like Greens Chapel. This is from film of marriage records( county court records). (From Pat Lemoine) In the 1881 History of Warren Co. by James P. Snell, there is mention of Amos Flummerfelt on page 629 of the section on Knowlton Twp. and Polkvillethe following: There is at this place a store and Post Office (established during the James K. Polk admin. and named for him) run by Amos Flummerfelt. This place is also noted in the Warren Co. NJ Atlas of 1874 by F.W.Beers page 14 Knowlton Twp. with the notation of A.
