Deats This cemetery adjoins the Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, which was constituted October 24, 1818, although the first building was completed some months before, and religious services maintained for some years previously, at least as early as 1812. The first internment was that of Rebecca Doyle, who died April 24, 1819. It is two miles northeast of Stockton, in Delaware Township, which was set off from Amwell Township in 1838. Buried at Sandy Ridge. DIED, On the 4th instant, at Easton, Pa, in the 23d year of her age, Mrs. Maria Eddy, wife of Mr. Oran Eddy, and daughter of Mr. Jonas Lake of Amwell. Her remains were interred in the Burying ground at Sandy Ridge, when a sermon was delivered by the Rev. Joseph Wright, from Psalm 97, 1, 2. The Lord reigneth let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him; righteousness and judgment are the habitation at his throne." Mrs. E. by her affectionate heart and upright deportment, had endeared herself to all who knew her; and though she never openly espoused the cause of the Redeemer, yet, by many circumstances connected with her life, by the willingness with which she left the world, and by her attachment to the Savior in her last moments, she has left satisfactory evidence that her spirit is now in the world of glory. Lived in Brookville and helped to build many of the houses in that area and in Stockton [Bush, 12-26-29].
