from the Easton Express Easton, PA 9 Dec 1920 page 10 BEGIN 60th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Lake, of Belvidere, Celebrate the Event. A happy event took place yesterday at Belvidere when over thirty relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Benton Lake, on Water street, Belvidere, to participate in the celebration of the sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Lake were married December 8, 1860, at the home of the bride at West Portal, Hunterdon county, by Rev. Isaac N. Crane, pastor of the Methodist Church, that place. Mrs. Lake was Miss Catherine Farrow. Mr. Lake being a native of Charlestown, Hunterdon county. In early life they engaged in farming, and for 31 years resided on the Cummins farm, one mile east of Belvidere. A year ago they retired from active work and made Belvidere their home. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lake. They are Mrs. J. W. Scott and Franklin F. Lake, of Bridgeville, and Misses Annie M. and Lizzie F. Lake, of Belvidere. No death has occurred in the family of sixty years of married life. At noon a sumptuous dinner, consisting of all the delicacies of the season, was served. A handsome birthday cake graced the center of the table, containing sixty lighted candles. Another cake attracted much attention, bearing the dates 1860-1920. There were many happy reminiscences of days gone by, and greetings exchanged among friends who had not met in many years. Music and social intercourse caused the time to pass quickly, and the friends departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. Lake, who are at the advanced age of 82 and 80 years, many more years of happy wedded life. In the afternoon George Osmun, of Hackettstown, gave the newly-weds an auto trip around town, after which a group photo of all the guests and family was taken by photographer G. C. Blazler. The bride and bridegroom received a number of gifts, bouquets and birthday cards. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ingham Williamson and grandson, Harry Helm, of Bloomsbury; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gano, Mrs. Ella McCrea, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rhinehart, George Fleming, of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Vanatta, of West Portal; Mr. and Mrs. George Osmun, of Hackettstown; Mrs. Caroline Bodine, Mrs. Lydia Lake, Mrs. Frank Bodine and daughter Elizabeth, Fletcher Bodine of Asbury; Mrs. Abbie Shurts, of Hampton; Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Smith, of Broadway; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bodine, of Brass Castle; Martin Burdge, of Buttsville; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Scott and daughter, Miss Katie, and son Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin F. Lake and son, Merle, of Bridgeville; Miss Emma Albertson, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Lake and daughters, Misses Annie and Lizzie, of Belvidere. END
