One obituary stated that he died Sunday at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Margaret Holcombe, 1022 East Grand Street, Elizabeth, NJ in the
79th year of his age. He had been sick for the previous 5 months, never
leaving his bed at any time. He was born in Bound Brook on September 29,
1815 and "was the brother of our venerable fellow-townsman, John Bush." He
was engaged in business here for a number of years and was postmaster of
this place from 1856 to 1861. While living in Elizabeth he was a member of
St. James' Church. The funeral services took place on Tuesday and interment
was Tuesday afternoon in Bound Brook Cemetery. [The Chronicle, Bound Brook,

Another obituary in the Elizabeth Daily Journal stated that Hiram Bush died
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Holcombe. He had formerly lived
in the Dr. Arms' house on Elizabeth Avenue. He had been sick for the last
five months, never leaving his bed at any time. He was born at Bound Brook
Sept. 29, 1815, and at one time was postmaster there. For a number of years
he had been engaged in the tailoring business at Newark; also in the grocery
business. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Holcombe, and one granddaughter,
Mrs. Edward Rue of Deposit, N. Y. and a wide circle of friends. He was a
member of St. James Church for a number of years. [Elizabeth Daily Journal,

He was a tailor in Bound Brook then moved his shop to Elizabeth, NJ where
he lived until the end of his life. He married Elizabeth Blue or Bilyeu
about 1838, and had 5 known children: Sarah Amelia (1839-1840), Margaret Ann
(1840-1904), John Henry (1843-1881), Caroline R. (1846-1880) and Elizabeth
H. (1855-1927). He was buried in grave Section F, lot #11, grave 3 with
his wife, son John Henry Bush, and daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and
Peter Demarest. There is no gravestone marker for him or wife Elizabeth.

She was born Elizabeth Blue, Blew or Bilyeu and was married to Hiram Bush
about 1838.

Obituary: "Death of Mrs. Hiram Bush. Elizabeth, wife of Mr. Hiram Bush,
of No. 126 Catharine street, died last evening. She had been sick for about
five months, but grew rapidly worse yesterday. Mrs. Bush, whose maiden name
was Blue, was born near Bound Brook on the 6th day of October, 1817. She
was of a large family of brothers and sisters, of whom three brothers and
a sister survive. Twelve years ago she removed to Elizabeth, and since
then a son and daughter have died. The latter was the wife of Mr. Peter
J. Demarest. Mrs. Bush leaves two daughters. On removing here she united by
certificate with St. James' M. E. Church, and attended services there so long
as health and strength permitted. She was quite a sufferer, and awaited her
last hours with Christian fortitude and patience. Her husband is employed
in a wholesale house in Newark. After funeral services on Monday afternoon,
the remains will be conveyed to Bound Brook. [Elizabeth Daily Journal,
