The Ontario Robins descendants are  still searching for the parents of John (Tabitha) of Ontario. Some former researchers have stated that John's father was Joshua (rather than the Widow Sarah). You suggested that perhaps if Joshua was John's father that he may be descended from John Robins and Mary Welles.

I have checked out that possibility and have found the following (which is a bit confusing - and not documented):
John Robins b. 1589 d. 1680 in England married to Hester, b 1593, d, 1677.
Some of their children came to the United States. One was John b.1615 in England who married Mary Welles.
Their children are listed as: Mary, (Hannah, married William Warner), (Daniel, married Hope Potter), Comfort, John, Samuel and (Joshua married Elizabeth Rose);
A child of Joshua Robins and Elizabeth Rose was also named Joshua who married Abigail Warner (his cousin?)

It would seem that someone has confused the lines,and have given John Robins and Mary Welles Daniel and Hope along with some other children. Do you have more accurate lineages (for both lines?)

Still with the Joshua topic. Could you please tell me who is the Joshua referred to in your Oct.16 post Hunterton Co. mortgages?

Hi Val,

I don't think any of us know who the Joshua in the 1737 mortgage of Hunterdon Co. is. That's what we'll need to try to research.

The property he took the mortgage out on was originally owned by Daniel Robins in 1714.

When Morris Co. was created 1739, the property fell within its boundaries.

According to the 1680 will of John Robins of Thedddingworth England, John & his wife Hester had no son named John. Their children were Elizabeth, Daniel, Joseph, Hester, Obedience & Joshua.
The parents of John Robins of Wethersfield CT are unknown to me. He died in 1660 without a will but a record of the division of his estate names his children as, Mary, Hannah, Comfort, John Jr., Samuel, & Joshua b. 1651. Daniel Robins is not named as a son of John Robins of Wethersfield.
John's son Joshua b. 1651 at Wethersfield, CT., & his wife Elizabeth Rose had a son Joshua b. 1681 & a grandson Joshua b. 1717 at Wethersfield, CT. As I recall, Joshua's brother John Robins, Jr. also had a son named Joshua.
