As you know, I recently enjoyed an enlightening telephone conversation with Annette Truesdell who referred me to you. Although I am not a member of the Lake Family, I represent a client who is a descendant of Charles VanDusen Lake (born 1836 in Smiths Falls, Lanark County, Ontario; died 1906 in Toronto). After months of still on-going research, I have been unable to confirm the parents of Charles VanDusen Lake, although I am confident he is a biological member of the Loyalist Thomas Lake (abt 1734 - 1814) family.  Although Charles was born in Lanark County, it is known he spent much of his youth in Mariposa Township, Victoria County, Ontario, in and around the Nicolas Lake (son of Thomas Lake; 1781 - 1863) family.  There is much supposition Charles is a son of Nicholas Lake, which I do not believe for a number of reasons too lengthy to outline here. In my telephone conversation with Annette, she told me of your work that might be able to help make a DNA match. Fortunately a male member of the Charles VanDusen Lake family had his DNA tested with Ancestry.com [ancestry.com] in the early stages.  Unfortunately I am not familiar with this type of DNA Paternal Lineage Test.  As such, my client and I are hoping you might be able to do some analysis. As my client and the individual who took the DNA test wish to remain anonymous, I will be your point of contact.  We hope this will be acceptable to you.  Per your request, I am attaching a .pdf copy of the first page of the descendant’s DNA closest matches, using the name of CVLAKE.  Within that same file is a “quick and dirty” lineage of the individual listed as CVLAKE’s second closest match - Kemper David Lake. As you will see on that page, this is where it gets interesting in that the lineage of Kemper David Lake stays essentially within the confines of South Carolina, whereas Charles VanDusen Lake was born, raised, and died all within the confines of Ontario, Canada. Please let me know if there are any other materials I might be able to provide.
