My ancestors were Anthony (1811-1883) & Sophia LAKE (1815-1887),who were both born in Quebec. They moved to West Troy,NY in the early 1850's -then to Bklyn by 1865.They had 8 children - Amalia PRUDHAM, Thomas, Daniel (local politician & U.S. Marshal), Almira TATE, Levi, William, Mary WELSH?, & Henry (my gggf.). Family stories say that they were French-Canadian & the name was changed - possibly from BEAULAC. My question - Any possiblity that a member of the Gravesend LAKES went to Canda (Loyalist ? ) and started a French branch of the family ? Would love to exchange info with any French-Canadian LAKES !!! Kathy
