From: "Linda Carr" Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 16:15:14 -0700 I've been doing some research on Edward Lake, born 1705, and his wife or wives. In the book Thomas of Stratford, it said Edward married Anne Leavenworth, daughter of James and Esther Trowbridge Leavenworth. Many of the records on Anne, including the LDS records, show her birth to be 1733, and her father's birth 1699. Yet, Edward married in 1731 and his children were born shortly thereafter, so she couldn't be the mother of his children if these dates are correct. Both Ann Beardsley and Anne Leavenworth are on LDS records as being married to Edward Lake. It is very possible that he married Ann Beardsley in 1731, had their family of eight children, and then she died. Edward could have then married Anne Leavenworth who, if she was born in 1733, would be old enough to marry by the time Ann Beardsley died. Here is a record of Ann Beardsley's death at age 47 in 1753, and confirmation of their wedding date: Ann Beardsley SGS #107h 4-Feb-1998 Family Group Sheet Wife: Ann BEARDSLEY #16437 died at age: 47 Born: 4-Nov-1705 in: Stratford, Fairfield Co, CT Baptized: in: Died: abt1753 in: CT Buried: in: Gen: 5th in: Ref: SGS#107h Occupation: Father: Daniel BEARDSLEY, Jr #10557 Mother: Ann SEELEY #10556 Husband: Edward LAKE #16443 Married: 14-Jun-1731 in: Stratford CT her age: 25 Ceremony: Divorced/Annulled/Separated: Year: Born: in: Baptized: in: Died: in: Buried: in: Gen: in: Ref: Occupation: Father: Mother: If anyone has any additional information that confirms any of these possibilities, please let me know.
