From: "Karen J Murphy" Date: Mon, 27 Jan 2020 18:52:56 -0600 Hi Marshall; I realized that although we upgraded and used my Dads [John Lake] DNA, he would not be considered a 'direct line' LAKE male descendant as my great grandfather, Roy Lake and his sister Cora were born out of wedlock and went by their mother Maude's maiden name of Lake. I have traced and was able to find the father of Roy & Cora is the surname of Sutton. I tried to enter my Dad's DNA into the Sutton DNA project to prove the connection, but, I just don't know how to justify my request to add his name. I have traced Roy's maternal line. I can definitively trace him to James I Lake b: 1762 d: 1833 Niles, Cayuga New York. Many individuals have traced this line to Thomas Lake, 1666-1726 CT Roy Lake/Maude/James/Henry/James/John/John/Thomas. I have not been able to prove this connection to Thomas Lake, which is why we thought he may be a part of the loyalist line. I'm pretty much stuck at this point. Karen To : "murphykj@mchsi.com" Date: Mon, 9 Mar 2020 Subject : Re: Kit #928468 - Direct Male Descendant LAKE Karen, From what I can glean on-line, it appears that John LAKE (1724-1798) is a son of John LAKE (1697-1768) & Abigail ------. John LAKE (1697-1768) is a son of Thomas LAKE (c1644-1660 England - c1727 Stratford, CT) & Sarah ------. Thomas LAKE (c1644 England - c1727 Stratford, CT) is the son of Henry LAKE & Alice ------. I think Alice ------ is semi-famous for being executed as a witch. Is this all correct as far as you know? There is a group ("LAKEs of CT") in the LAKE DNA Project with several members who have traced their LAKE line to Thomas LAKE (c1644-1660 England - c1727 Stratford, CT) with a paper trail. Your cousin's Y results do not match with this group. I think from this we can say that James I LAKE (1762-1834) is not connected to John LAKE (1724-1798). Do you other possibilities for the parents of James I LAKE (1762-1834)?
