My father is getting old and I'd love to be able to connect some dots for him before he passes. His name is Dale Joe Lake, his father is John Leamond (spelling could be wrong) Lake, who's father was John who come over to Michigan from Ontario Canada. We believe that he enter through Port Huron, Michigan, because we heard stories of dances on the white rocks, and before that they had settled in Tillensburg Canada.. So, the story goes that John Lake's father was Edward Colburn (again spelling could be wrong) Lake remembered coming over on the boat with his father from England, when he was just a little boy. This is just how the story goes I don't know the truth. There is trouble with the timing. I'm finding it hard to trace anything in Canada. Supposedly, the man who came here from Liverpool, England was a twin. He headed for America and his brother went on to Africa. The one that went to Africa was never heard from again. We have twins in every generation in our family. My brother was working one day in the oil fields, and a salesman came up to him and asked him if his name was Lake. He never meet him before or anything. Jim said yes why do you ask? The man said he knows two Lake brothers from Battle Creek who are twins and they look just like him. Okay, I'm from Traverse City, Michigan and you can find some family trees there but they aren't really accurate. I have correct date of when certain people where born, and even some of them are with the wrong families. I went around to all of my relative that were living, my father came from a family of thirteen, he was the youngest, and I got stories to include in our family tree because I loved the stories. Anyhow, my life changed and I'm living in Wisconsin now. Do you believe you could shed some light on this for me. My great grandfather was involved with an Anne Sullivan, the sister to John L. Sullivan, the famous bare fisted fighter. That is wear my Grandfather got his name from. My Grandfather had a sister Ida, who married a Addison Storres (Spelling) and they had a baby who was a midget. I have stories of her. Ida moved to Tupperware, New York, with the company she worked for. My Grandfather's wife where my family comes from name was Hannah Stalks (Spelling). She was of Irish decent we believe. I have a letter that was written to one of my Uncles stating all of the names in that family. I have all of this written down somewhere with correct spelling, but I'll have to do some digging to get it out. Which I will do, if your willing to help me. Will what do you think, Am I crazy? If you think this is bad, you should see where my mothers family tree takes me................... Jesse James! (maybe) Thanks so much for listening, Nancy Lake
