The following is an extract from the 1881 Census of Great Britain (excluding
Ireland).

It was taken in March or April and your grandfather was more than likely
born afterwards. There is none with the name Francis C. Lake but it was not
uncommon for the middle name to be omitted, likewise Francis could be Frank
or other variants. If you have more information about your grandfather or
his family, even older siblings, it would be a help and I could be more
specific.
