My Mother's maiden name was Lake. From there (my grandfather Aubrey Lewellyn
Lake) it was traced directly from father to son. The furthest Lake Ancestor
that I have traced is Henry Lake born circa 1611 in Lancashire, England
and died circa 1673 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Henry Lake was married to Alice (who was executed as a witch around 1650).
His line were farmers who settled in the Rhode Island area. Eventually, one
of his descendants, Caleb Lake was offered a land grant in Nova Scotia in 1750
after the Acadian deportation. My line lived there until my great grandfather
moved the family back to New England (New London, CT). My grandfather Aubrey
Lake was born in Nova Scotia but was a baby when they immigrated to the US.
