From: FRED J ANDREASEN To: Wesley Johnston Sent: Monday, March 21, 2016 10:22 PM You need to use the documents in McMillians book. The Land Records - (without these it is said that a truck can be driven through your pedigree) There is much valuable information concerning relationships in them. McMillian only gives what is important to research and did not include everything from the land records, The Bible Records that were copied into the book are good - if they were not in the Bible we didn't include them, The Military records from the Lake Families service in the American Revolution and any church record that is quoted with its source should be looked at closely. Somebody has merged Capt. John Lake with our John Lake Jr. the son of John Lake and Ann Spicer. They are two different people with two different parents. Our John Lake who married Ann Spicer never was in Rhode Island. We have found an immigration record for our John Lake that shows he came right to Long Island New York. The only problem the record does not tell where he came from in England. I knew right where the following information listed below was that is vital from McMillian but I will have to dig to find my proof of John Lake married to Ann Spicer because I haven't put it all together with all my sources. James Lake who married Margaret Hagerman and John Lake who married Miss Van Voorhees were brothers. There father is John Lake who married Margaret Snyder. The Land Petitions have information needed on this. See McMillian p.254, 255 See last line p. 251 and p.252 where it mentions the Ulster County, Wills and Records in the top paragraph. It said that three children were born to John Lake and Margaret Snyder. It then listed four children but the original should have the correct children listed. The information that does not have a source avoid but read it to get an idea of what he found out. The History of Rennsler County by Sylvester quoted p.253 is a must read to understand a little about the earliest land grants in Rennsler County. See p. 249 in McMillian for the petition listing the names of the children who tried to get their father's name restored as indicated in the middle of p. 254 following the list of the Children of John Lake and Miss Voorheis, starting with "The above arrangement of birth dates are taken from an application for the replacement of the name of John Lake Jr. on the lists of United Empire Loyalist...' Also read p.248 on John Lake Jr. married to Miss Voorhees You have done so much research - it is good. Annette is the one who knows the Nicholas' forward and backward. Her research is sound and very good. You can trust what she says on the Nicholas'. She labored a long time to get what she knows. Wesley as careful as Janet and I were I have found some minor errors in our book. More records have become available since we wrote the Lake Book that we didn't have access too. Katherine Andreasen Date: Sat, 5 Mar 2016 00:27:48 +0000 From: wwjohnston01@yahoo.com To: andreasenkl@msn.com Subject: Lake Family DNA Breakthrough Document OK, I have finally pulled together everything into the attached 10-page document. am cc'ing the administrator of the Family Tree DNA account of Carla Rae Neves, since it appears highly likely that she is a Lake descendant, since she matches me on the same chromosome 20 where all the Lake DNA matches so far discovered seem to be located. I know this is a huge new bundle of information to drop in the laps of those of you who have not been part of it -- and none of you have been part of all that I have documented, so that you will all be learning something new as you read it. Annette and Janet and Katherine, I especially need your evaluation of the very early Loyalist Lake ancestors about whom we are confident. The breakthrough is that -- thanks to Dan Rush's wife's Lake 1st cousins marrying each other and thus allowing us to trace autosomal DNA much further back than usual -- the Loyalist Lake line and the Massachusetts Henry Lake line are now known to share the same DNA segment on chromosome 20. So there is a common ancestor back there somewhere -- which is why we really need to try to nail down as much as we can to see if we can someday document how these two lines are connected (which was most likely in England).
