I have had a subscription to this library for about 3 years.  I have no
other association with it.  A new addition to the library is "Massachusetts
& Maine Family Histories, 1650s-1930s.  Within this collection is an
article titled "Lake of North Benfleet, Co. Essex, ENG".  This short
article contains information about descendants of an early man named LAKE
whose family is known as the "Lakes of Great Fanton Hall".  This family
came to North Benfleet about 1570.  Their origins prior to that time is
unknown.  The article follows the descendants of the children of this forst
unknown man.  This family includes Margaret (Reade) Lake, wife of a John
Lake.  margaret left her husband and traveled to New England with her two
daughters Martha and Ann/Hannah and with her two sisters.  Magaret lived
for many years with her brother-in-law Gov. John Winthrop, Jr., of New
London, CT.  She died in 1672.  Her children and grandchildren are the last
of the family to be included in this article.  Another article covers her
