Subject: LAKE / LECK

Hi,
New to this list, kind of got side tracked from the surname LECK!  Our
ancestors were sailors in Whitby Yorks UK.  I have them back to 1787.
On some ship muster rolls I have James LAKIE / LECK entered as Lake!
Four letter word leading me a song and dance!  Anyone missing a James
born approx 1766 who married in Whitby to Martha Todd 1787?  Only God
knows where he came from!  Sailed into Whitby  from only he knows
where!  Any help much appreciated.  Thanks
