I was informed of this group by John German, who has been advising me on shaking the Robbins family tree. Our paper trail goes back from my Father-in-Law, Gernzie Perl Robbins (don't laugh), we call him,"Robbie", "GP" or "Perl." He is 94. His father was Raymond Claude, 1881-1942, from Steeleville, IL. GF was William James, 1854 - 1881, Steeleville, IL. GGF was Charles, 1829 - 1905, Steeleville, IL. We are pretty sure the GGGF was William, who evidently died before 1830 and probably in Randolph County, IL, around Steeleville (?) We think his wife, Eva Bowerman was back with her parents for the 1830 census. William has disappeared. We don't know where he came from, or where he went. On the 1880 census for Randolph county, Charles and most of his family is listed and Charles' entry shows his father was from "ME." DNA shows exact matches (25 markers)with 2WWD6 Robbins from Rutherford County, NC and BMRXD Robins from Scotland. We are waiting for results for markers 26-37. The dna pointer to 2WWD6 in NC kind of makes me lean in that direction, but so far I haven't uncovered any missing William Robbins that would have been of marrying age around the late 1820's. Haven't found much of anything about the Maine Robbins. I was wondering if there were any brothers of Daniell Robinson on the prisoner ship. All this to say, we don't know which son of Daniell and Hope our Robbie matches with. Please, keep us posted on any new discoveries. I hope "Robbie" enjoys your discoveries on his ancestry. The question you raise regarding brothers of Daniel Robinson is one that puzzles me too. There is no proof (at least that I'm aware of) as to how the other Robinsons & Robertson listed on the manifest of the ship John & Sara related to Daniel. It would seem logical like Daniel they married, had children & continued to spread out into the colonies too. Where they settled is a good question? What name did they use Robertson, Robinson or Robins, Robinds, Robyns etc ? You may have these already but I'll list for anyone who may not have seen it. The names of Daniel's group from the ship's list. Alester Robinson Charles Robinson Daniel Robinson James Robinson John Robinson John Robinson Patrick Robertson I'm not sure if the two John Robinson are the same person but it appears they may be separate individuals. A piece of information that amazes me is one of our members, Wilma Robbins Meaden's ancestor's name was also listed on the John & Sara's roster as John Woodall. His name was changed to John Wattles after his arrival to America. His descendant Olive Wattles married Asa Disbro Robbins a Daniel Robinson/Robins descendant. This information is documented in Wilma's book, "The Ancestry of Asa Windsor Robbins." John Woodall & Daniel Robinson could not have imagined as they were being shipped to America that one day their descendants would marry. It was just a matter then of surviving the journey. Possibly there will be some information presented here to assist you & others searching for a match to the correct son of Daniel & Hope. Sara
