Looking for insights / ideas of where to look for whereabouts of James
Smith Garrison, member of the 1st Battalion Nevada Cavalry, Company A. He
enlisted at Fort Bridger, Utah Territory in November of 1864; deserted in
October 1865. We have not been successful in locating him anywhere after this.

What we know:

- James Smith Garrison was born in 1842 in Washington Co., Indiana, son of
  William & Mary (Johnston?) Garrison.

- Garrison family was living in Ray Co., Missouri by 1855.

- Married to Anna T. Roberts in Dec 1863, Clay Co., Missouri.

- Arrested on charges of desertion (2nd Missouri Cavalry, Company 'G') and
  bushwhacking in Kansas City, Missouri; a military inquiry held in June 1864.

- Death certificate of daughter, Elizabeth Garrison Williamson ( Illinois,
  1939 ) ID's him as "Smith Garrison," birthplace "unknown;" mother's name &
  birthplace as "unknown."
