I have speculated about your question, but have not noted a connection between the Dorcheter Co & St Marys Co. groups. I have not researched the Dorcheter group at all however, and the professional researcher (who did some work for Dorcheter descendants) with whom I discussed the question had never researched (wasn't even aware of) the St Marys group. To my knowledge little has been done that would answer your question. My Dorchester/St Marys answer to your question above is not complete without this further detail. There is a Robert Lake who almost certainly, date wise, precedes either the Dorchester or St Marys Lakes into Maryland. Lord Baltimores group first landed in St Marys Co c1634. Robert Lake shows up c1638 in a half dozen MD records (no family or land info however). William Claiborne (1600-1677; b England; emigrated to VA) established a trading post with the Indians on Kent Island (disputed territory between MD and VA), which led to battles with guns, between supporters of Claiborne and Lord Baltimores people. Robert Lake was a "sergeant" for Claiborne in at least one of the gun battles. There is no "happy" ending (yet) .... this is about as much as I know about Robert Lake. Obviously he had a connection to a "mover and shaker" of that time. I read an entire book about Claiborne, but didn't find out what happened to Robert Lake.
