Along with Daniell Robinson, James Robinson is recorded on the manifest of the ship John & Sara dated Nov. 11, 1651 as a passenger bound for Boston in New England. On May 13, 1652 his name & Daniell's were entered by New England recorder Edward Rawson into the Suffolk Registry of Deeds. From the Accounts of Lynn Iron Works, folder 39, Baker Library, Harvard University, not all but some of the Scottish prisoners aboard the ship John & Sara were destined for labor at the ironworks in Lynn, MA. Records & Files of the Quarterly Courts of Essex Co., MA, Vol.2, pg. 29. James Robinson, a Saugus ironworker was called before the court on March 31, 1657 as a witness to a court case involving the Saugus Ironworks at Lynn, MA. The court records the age of James Robinson as 38 in 1657. Records of the Suffolk County Court, Session of 27 April 1675, pg. 585 & 586. James Robinson was sued on April 27, 1675 by Robert Edmonds for non-payment of 50 pounds of fish, wheat & beef. He received a trial by jury and the court found in the favor of Mr. Edmonds. A verdict was issued on May 14, 1675. There were three accounts entered into the court records for the same James Robinson as follows: Edmonds against Robinson Edmonds agt Robinson Edmonds agt Robbinson In all three of these accounts the court transcript refers to the defendant as "James Robbinson alias James Robertson" There is no direct evidence at this time to link James Robinson, the Scotsman in 1652, James Robinson, the witness in 1657 & James Robinson/Robbinson/Robertson the defendant in 1675 to each other as the same man. However, it is a documented fact that the first James Robinson recorded in 1652 was a Scotsman & it's quite possible that James Robinson the witness in 1657 & James Robinson/Robbinson/Robertson the defendant in 1675 were also Scottish & the same man.
