So both Richard Ezra Lake and Jay Vaughn Lake seem to trace back to Daniel 1771, but wouldn't they be closer DNA matches if they both descended from the same Daniel? Or maybe Venita is right and Rick's line really is the son of the Rev Jacob. Otherwise Rick and Jay would be 4th cousins (see chart attached for that scenario). I found this article and the marriage record on Ancestry (see attached). They pertain to the family of Daniel Lake (1809-1861) who is a son of Daniel 1771. His eldest brothers are Burgess (Jay's line) and Ballard (Rick's line).  Still going to be scratching around to separate out these confusing families! However, it did say that Miss Elizabeth Lake had just died, so it would be around 1961. Here's a link to her Find-a-Grave memorial: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/62488752 [www.findagrave.com]   Also, here is an interesting bit of info I found on the tree of marienandbill on Ancestry. See attached. They maintain a Lake Family Tree online and Bill descends from William Lafayette Lake.
