Date: Thu, 11 Jul 2013 00:27:36 -0000 Subject: [GARRISON] Edward or Elwood Garrison, from Bridgeton, NJ Author: gimbo25 I have an old newspaper from Bridgeton, NJ (February 1903) that has an article about Edward (or Elwood) Garrison in it. I thought his relatives on ancestry might be interested, so I've typed it up. This way, you can save it as a story to your tree, and it will be made available to others through ancestry. Hope you enjoy the article! The title of this article says "Edward Garrison" but in the article, he is once referred to as "Elwood Garrison." Dollar Weekly News, Bridgeton, NJ February 7, 1903 After more than a quarter of a century - Edward Garrison Returns to Bridgeton after a Long Absence After an absence of twenty-eight years, Elwood Garrison, a former Bridgeton boy, has been visiting his old friends here. Garrison left here when about seventeen years old and he had but little of this world's goods to bother him. Now he is half owner in a Western cattle ranch, not startlingly rich, as the story books would have it, but possessed of a very nice fortune such as they are reckoned in the West. Leaving here and his old friends, Garrison started for the unbroken West and after covering a good part of the new country he finally settled in Arizona, where he is associated in an immense ranch as half owner. Having occasion to come as far as Chicago with a large shipment of horses, he decided to drop back to New Jersey. At Port Norris he has some relatives and he wanted to see the home of his boyhood again. This week he has been looking up the boys he used to know. All grown to manhood, they have lots to tell and the old experiences to recount. Mr. Garrison sees many changes in Bridgeton during his absence of more than a quarter of a century.
