2. Robbins Oystering on the Delaware Bay Posted by: "Sara Robbins Hoffman" july37@cox.net turkeypt2 Date: Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:08 am ((PDT)) The Press of Atlantic City recently published an article on bacteria contained in oysters from the Delaware Bay. The front page photo featured Capt. Lemuel Robbins of Port Norris, NJ coming ashore at Money Island near Newport, NJ. I thought this photo may be of interest to members with roots in Downe & Commercial Townships. There is a good view across the water from Money Island. Lem Robbins is a Richard Robbins descendant from the David Robbins line & also a descendant of Aaron Peterson through Peter Petersson aka Stake b. 1667 of the Maurice River. Lem follows a long tradition of his Robbins & Peterson ancestors who spent their lives as "watermen" on the Delaware Bay. I've posted this photo & it can be viewed on the last page of my photo album in the group's Photo Section. Sara (photo file is LemuelRobbins.jpg)
