Also for the men & women who couragously continue to serve. A photo has been posted in the files in honor of 2nd Lt. Wilbert H. Robbins, Jr. He served as a paratrooper with the 82nd AB during WWII, making 4 combat jumps into, Sicily, Italy, Normandy & Holland. Lt. Robbins was taken as a POW on D-Day at Ste. Mere Eglise, France & escaped two months later with the aid of French citizens. As a former POW, he was eligible to return home but chose to fight on with his regiment. Lt. Robbins was killed in action on 1-3-1945 at Reharmont, Belgium while leading his platoon forward against German tanks. He is buried at Chapelle Henri, American Cemetery, Belgium. A native of Port Norris, NJ, a memorial stone for 2nd Lt Robbins is located in the Port Norris M.E. Cemetery. Sara
