I have the book The BarentJacobsen Cool Family, and feel they connect but don't have Frederick's wife's full name nor their marriage date. The attached from Frederick on down (4) generations...notes, etc. Wish I could get some documentation on Frederick's marriage to Mary unknown. See what you think and let me know...I can give you how it connects (I believe on back as well). Annie Descendants of Frederick Cool Generation No. 1 1. FREDERICK1 COOL was born Abt 1760 in NJ?. Mary EGBERT in turn was born in Readington on 8 JUN 1760 to Nicholas & Maria EGBERT according to the IGI. Seek information about births, parentage, marriages and deaths for the above. I believe the COOL line goes back to Barent COOL and the EGBERT line goes back to Govert EGBERT, both settlers to New Jersey in the 1600s. Ruth Volk - ruth@campbell-group.com I've hired a genealogist, Nancy Bartoo, to do some research on the Cools in western PA (as well as some research on some of my other lines.) Nancy knew that from 1852 through 1854, Pa counties were required to keep birth, marriage and death records. She looked for the death record of Mary Cool, wife of Frederick, and found it: "DEATH RECORD: 1852-1854 Vital Statistics, Washington County, Pa. Deaths, 1853, #6: Mary Cool, white, female, 74 years, Father: Peter Cool, Mother: Alice Cool, occupation: gentlewoman, place of birth: St. Clair Township, Allegheny County, Pa., Name of issue living: Polly, Nancy, Alice, William, Abner, Matilda. Date of death: May 14, '53, 7 PM, Place of death: Hanover Twp, Wash. Co, Pa., Name and location of burial ground: Frankfort, Person returning certificate: J. M? Dungan, M.D., His residence: Frankfort Springs, Wash. Co., Pa., Date of certificate: May 21, '53, Date of registration: May 24, '53." The divergence between May 14, 1853 and May 19, 1853 (the previously reported death date for Mary) is probably just a typo. That this is Mary Cool, wife of Frederick Cool, is confirmed, I think, by the fact that she's a Frankfort Springs resident with a daughter, Matilda. We know that Frederick's wife was Mary from his will and that they had a daughter Matilda from both Frederick's and Mary's wills. What's fascinating about this is that the death record states that her parents were Peter and Alice Cool! This would indicate that Frederick and Mary were cousins. The following is some census data on a Peter Cool who may be Mary's father: 1790 Census, PA, Allegheny County (portion taken from Washington County), page 75: Peter Cool, 1 male over 16, three males under 16, three females, no nonwhites. 1800 Census, PA, Allegheny County, St. Clair Township, image 8 of 10: Peter Cool, two males 0-10, two males 10-16, one male 45 or older; one female 16-25. 1830 Census, PA, Allegheny County, St. Clair Township, image 19 of 58: Peter Cool, one male 5-10, one male 15-20, one male 40-50, one female under 5, one female 5-10, one female 40-50. The third census, 1830, is more probably for a son of the 1790 Peter Cool. Also, I came across a 1850 Peter Cool, 61, wife, Eleanor, 63, living in Pittsburgh, with children John, Frederick, Mary, Eleanor and Emma. This couldn't be the 1790 Peter, but it may be the 1830 Peter. Naming the son Frederick is interesing. (OBTW, these Cools including the parents were all born in Pa, except oldest son John, who was born in Ireland, which is kinda special.) Thought you'd be interested in this. Also, I was looking at my database for info on Peter, son of Frederick and Mary, and don't have anything on him. I had thought you had told me something about him. Do you have anything on him?
