Is it possible that you are a descendant of Henry Lake, born about 1770
in New Jersey?He married a Catherine Cuyler.

Unfortunately that is about all I know about Henry Lake except that his
father was also named Henry and he had a brother named Thomas. He married
Catherine Cuyler, daughter of Catherine Barberie and Henry Cuyler. Cuyler
and Barberie were well known names in NYC in the early 1700's. They
were both merchants. The Barberies coming from France in 1688, settled
in NYC and then NJ (Perth Amboy) and the Cuylers I believe, were Dutch,
first settling in Albany and then NYC. I have been trying to trace this
branch for some time but without any success. When I saw your surname,
interested in NJ people I was hoping you might be descended from Henry
Lake. However, it is possible his name may have been Lane and not Lake.
