He married Martha Naylor and had several children including one son, John Naylor Dilts (1786-1844), and daughters Sarah, Ann, Mary, Jane and Charlotte. Not to be confused with Jacob Dilts (b. 1759) who married Sarah Heath, both of whom died in 1831, also in Amwell Township. I'm looking to locate any information, but most helpful would be an estate file, for Harmen, probably Dutch Hermannus also Harmon or Herman Rosegrant, Rosenkrans, Rosecrant, Rosecrans or any of several other variant spellings. He was known to have been in Hunterdon County by about 1760, having come likely from Walpack in Sussex/Morris county, where he was born in 1714. I do not know when he would have died but think it likely that he died either in Hunterdon or Somerset county or else, possibly in neighboring Pennsylvania. Before leaving Walpack he had married Anna Maria (Anna, Maria, Mary) Stout and there had children Alexander (1744), Catharine (1748), Anna (1750) and Joseph (1753). He married and his children were baptized in the Dutch Reformed church at Walpack. Did he have more? What happened to Anna Maria Stout? Did he remarry? Etc. etc. There is a source that suggest that he resided in Alexandria Township in Hunterdon Co. Thank you for any hints you are able to provide. My name is Taylor Rattray. I started researching my ancestry upon knowing my maternal grandmother spent her time since birth in foster care. All she knows about her birth parents are their names: Manford White and Marie McDonald. She also knows their ethnicities. Manford White is believed to be of Northern European decent, while her mother was a mix between Black and Caucasian. My grandmother was born in 1947, when likely such a union would be frowned upon. While it no longer exists, the hospital she was born in was in Hunterdon County. She has no idea where they went afterwards, or if they are even still alive. My grandmother shares her name with her mother--she is also Marie McDonald. If anyone has any information about either of these two people, please let me know. It would mean a lot to our family. The short obituary on his cemetery file states that he was married twice and had a son in his first marriage. I wonder if anyone has any information on who that son was? She was born Aug 6, 1854 the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth HANN JOHNSON. She married John A. LAUBENSTINE Mar 20, 1875. He died of typhoid in 1883. Their son Newton V. Laubenstine (aka LOWE) was my grandfather. Sarah later married Frank Costello in 1893 and he appears to have died circa 1899-1900. She died in Lambertville in June of 1931. I only discovered that my last name should have been LAUBENSTINE in 2009 so these people were all new to me. I would so like to learn all I can about my great-grandparents and have made two trips to Hunterdon and Bucks Counties from my home in the midwest. I've accumulated a tremendous about of records, gravestone photos, etc. What I am missing are PHOTOS which are those unique items that really bring our ancestors to life. Since Sarah did not die until 1931, there likely are photos out there "somewhere" and perhaps of my great-grandfahther John A and my grandfather's siblings John Albert, Victoria and Eva Lena also. (My line is the only direct LAUBENSTINE male offspring) These photos could be either in the hands of HANN or JOHNSON family members or even acquaintances and neighbors families. Other surname connections include brother and sister-in-laws WERTS, PRICE, VAN KIRK, HESTON, REAMER, CHRISTERN, ULMER, WEAN, PEGG and son-in-law PARENT. I am posting this in hopes that descendants of one of these connected families will be inspired to look through their old photos, discover my Sarah (and others hopefully) and be willing to share with me. "A Bloom By Any Name" was published last month and is now available at Amazon in paperback or Kindle version. Specifically about some of the "Ancestors and Descendants of Johann Peter Blum 1732-1814." A German immigrant Johann was a resident of Hunterdon County, New Jersey and is the progenitor of tens of thousands of descendants. The book is the product of exhaustive research spanning several years and includes sources from the archives of Germany. Unfortunately a lack of documentation makes some aspects of the Blum/Bloom history difficult to prove one way or another. A number of things passed down through the generations as fact by family historians are now called into question with revelations from this book. However, the author does an excellent job of documenting how he came to the conclusions he does while building an easily understood case that supports his conclusions. In every case however he leaves it "to the reader to decide." Author Lee Bloom is not only a descendant of Johann's but is an experienced, thoughtful and thorough investigator. You'll find his discoveries an interesting read, especially for those who enjoy American history. "A Bloom By Any Name" will be a valuable tool and resource for any serious Blum/Bloom family historian, I hope you'll check it out at the following link: http://bit.ly/ABloomByAnyName-Amazon A long anticipated book is finally out. His widow, Helena, whom he married in Alexandria Twp. in 1811, was enumerated in the 1830 US Census in Livonia, Livingston Co., NY, so it's possible the family may have moved from NJ to NY prior to Philip's death. His parents (Philip Sr. and Elizabeth) and at least two siblings (John Slout, Catharine Lott) moved from Hunterdon Co. to Lodi, Seneca Co., NY, in 1826, but I haven't come across any mention of the younger Philip there. My DNA test also indicates a connection to the Sein name 5-8 cousins (very low) but the Sein listed is Elizabeth Sein 1764-1851 in Hunterdon New Jersey. The Freeman line is also from Hunterdon so I suspect there is a connection. Looking for information on a Mary Freeman Sein that is listed in our Freeman Family Bible Born June 15, 1786. The last name is "Lequear" and they had a daughter (Anna Belle) who was born probably between 1910 and 1920. These people may have moved away from area before the child was born - we are not sure if other family members are aware of this little girl they had. Anna Belle (the child) was left at an orphanage in Tampa, Florida at a young age. Even though the Lequear's would not let their child be adopted, they never returned for her. Anna Belle was taken into a foster home at about the age of 5 years and raised by her foster parents. Anna Belle is now deceased, but she remembered very little about her parents. The only possibly identifying information we have to go on is that Ms. Lequear was probably a concert pianist, and Mr. Lequear was probably a college professor. Anna Belle later had a daughter who was born in 1936 (Dolores) who is in poor health and is desperately seeking her "roots". Please contact me at Truly-Momma@webtv.net if you have any information that may help. I am looking for any information I can obtain on a family we believe was from New Jersey.
