From: PopCarpet@aol.com Date: Tue, 24 Aug 1999 23:50:36 EDT The oldest information I have about the Lake family begins with Henry and Anne Lake of East Amwell in Hunterdon Co. Their ages in the 1850 census indicate that both were born about 1790. They married September 21, 1813, in East Amwell. Some of their children were: William Lake, b. 1818. m. Eleanor (Lana) ________. Jacob Lake b. 1820 m. Sarah Sweany 10 Mar 1843. Aaron Lake b. 1824 in Rocky Hill, Montgomery Twp, Somerset Co. m. Mary Danberry, 27 Apr 1853, E. Amwell., Hunterdon Co. Nicholas Lake, b. 1830. m. Deborah Danberry, 1851, East Amwell, Hunterdon Co. Aaron's birthplace (Rocky Hill, Somerset Co.), and the use of the names Henry, Nicholas, and Jacob in this family line leads me to believe Henry is related to the Somerset or Middlesex County Lake families, because these names are usually found in their genealogies. Children of Aaron Lake and Mary Danberry: 1. Sarah Louise Lake. b. 8 March 1854, m. T. Jefferson Strouse about 1873, d. 1919. Buried in Wertsville. Children: Jonathan, Mary E., Thomas J. 2.
