This John Robins was the son of William & Mary Robins & husband of Mary “Polly” Woodward. He is buried at Greenwood M.E. Cemetery, Millville, Columbia Co., PA. The 1820 census for Greenwood, Columbia Co., PA lists John Robins, Joseph Robins & Joshua Robins. Mrs. Hill’s research was extracted from the Columbia County Historical Society Robbins Family File. John Robbins was a son of William Robbins, but this William lived in Greenwood Twp, Columbia County, PA. From the Cemeteries of Columbia County, Volume 2: Greenwood Methodist Cemetery Robbins, John H/o Polly 29(7) Mar. 1850 69-3-0 Polly H/o John 14(22) Feb 1850 63-6-11 From the History of Columbia & Montour Counties, Pennsylvania, Battle, pg. 240: Methodism also found adherents among the early settlers of Greenwood valley. The first service was held in 1809 in Thomas Eve's mill. A class of eleven members was formed, among whom were William, Lydia, John and Mary Robbins, Elizabeth Richie, Mary Richie and Jacob Evans, who was appointed leader. For sixteen years they held meetings in William Robbin's barn. A house of worship was built in 1825, and after thirty-five years of use was abandoned as unsafe. Note: John was born in 1780. I believe he was born too late to be possible son of William and Mary of Bethlehem Twp, Hunterdon County, NJ. I think I’ve found John Robbins, son of William and Mary of Bethlehem Twp, Hunterdon County, NJ. As many of you know I have a dead end. According to Wi census I have a gt gt uncle, James Robbins, born in Pa in 1831, my gt gt grandfather, Edward's brother. Our Dodge co records burned. Their parents could be Peter and Abigail Robbins, according to their sisters wedding certificate. But when they appeared on Wi census records Abigail was married to a Mason Grover. Something must have happened to Peter Robbins between 1837 & 1840. Thank you for reading this and in the Pa research if you find Peter Robbins, please let me know. END Posted by: "Sara Hoffman" july37@cox.net turkeypt2 Date: Mon Oct 9, 2017 10:43 am ((PDT)) BEGIN You source Cemeteries of Columbia County, PA, Volume 2 for the birth date of John Robbins who died in 1850 is a good one. The gravestone of John Robbins is so worn it barely shows his death date, his age at death isn’t readable. Find A Grave has John Robbins born in 1766 died at age 84 & The US Federal Mortality Schedule has his birth date 1774, died at age 76. Not all of these can be right. The cemetery appears to be the most accurate. Thanks, END Posted by: "Kathleen Crellin" ktyc14@yahoo.com kty31451 Date: Mon Oct 9, 2017 4:06 pm ((PDT)) Sometimes it is hard to go back and pick up who exactly is being researched because there are so many with the same name.
