From the Genealogical Magazine of NJ (Vol 70, p.129) AN ASSAULT ON GEORGE BUTLER Hunterdon County Sessions. George W. Butler of Raritan Township in said County, son of John Butler late of the said township, and now in the Service of the United States, aged eleven years and four months, upon his oath complains That on the 6th day of June 1865 at the Township of Raritan in the County aforesaid, Robert LAKE of Raritan Township in said County, laborer, with force and arms, did make an assault on him the said George W. Butler in the peace of the State then and there being, and him the said George W. Butler then and there did beat and ill treat against the peace of the State, therefore he prays that the said Robert LAKE may be apprehended and held to answer to said complaint and dealt with as law and justice may require.
