Here are the John Robins that I could find. Some of them may not fall into the right date of birth. ===================================================================================================== 1. From Woodbridge & Vicinity we know that 2-Daniel's 2nd son was named John. "John Robinds Son of Daniel Robinds and Mary his wife Born February ye 24th 1695." This is thought by some to be an abstract of his will, but I would have my doubts. If it was his will, he would be 80 years old. If so how could he have an under age son Job? He would have been 60 when they were born. To me the will of a man naming children coming "of age" would more likely be written by a man closer to the age of 40 or 50 - Thoughts --- Anyone? *1775, June 29. Robins, John, of Amwell, Hunterdon Co.; will of. Wife, Elener Robins, while my widow, the profits of the plantation I live on, and, after her death, to my son John, he paying to my son Cornelius, £50, and to my son Job, £100, when 21; but if Job do not live, then to my daughters, Anna Robins, Mary Robins, Elizabeth Woolverton, Hannah Robins, Jane Kitchen, Rachel Reily, Lydia Parlee, and Catherine Robins. In 1793 Leah Robins (Wife of Joseph? who was the son of 8-Moses) names a son John. If this is the correct Leah it seems their children would start being born circa 1730. 1793, ---.--. Robins, Leah, of Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co.; will of. Son, Joseph Robins, 10 shillings. Children, i.e., Sarah Ann, Mary and Deborah Morris, (daughters of Benjamin and Mary Morris), Sarah (daughter of Nathaniel and Margaret Cook), Ann and Leah Imay, (daughters of Samuel and Meribah Imlay), and Elizabeth Sexton, (daughter of William and Elizabeth Sexton), each £10, when 18. The 1771 Will of Joseph Robins, (husband of Leah named earlier?) Gives us a better time frame for the birth of some of his children. Joseph was supposedly born circa 1710. Wording leads us to believe that he had 5 daughters under the age of 18. Assuming single child births leads us to believe that the youngest was not older than 12-13. That child would have been born circa 1758 when Joseph was about 48 years old. 1771, Feb. 22. Robins, Joseph, of Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co., yeoman; will of. Wife, Leah, at the end of 10 years, to pay our eldest daughter 1/5 of the moveable estate, and to every one of my 5 daughters 1/5 part; and if any of my daughters, Margaret, Mary, Parthenia, Elizabeth and Meribah, should die under 18, then the share to go to the rest. Wife to have the use of the homestead, which I give to my 2 sons, Zebulon and John. Son, Moses, land where he lives; but his brothers, Joseph and Richard, to have the east part. Executors - wife, Leah, son, Moses, and son-in-law, Nathaniel Cook. Witnesses - John Andrews, Moses Robins, Jr., William Giberson. Proved Dec. 1 1786. 1780, Nov. 5. Court records will narrow the candidates. My group headed for Bucks Co. after the Revolution. That John and William and I think an early Richard and Nathaniel then seemed to move to Western PA near the group that Brian is researching. Likely the many male Robbins were short of land, and ready to exercise their land warrants in Fayette Co. PA, One Nathaniel Robbins was living in Fayette in the early 1800's] Uniontown, Fayette, is where William Robbins filed for his Revol War Pension. Perhaps significant, or not. Further research on Daniel 2 children may be the clue to my William naming his children 1.John, 2.William, 3.Daniel, 4.Joseph and 5.Benjamin. Many thanks to our entire group for sharing their excellent research and kind advice. John Robins of Amwell had married daughters in 1775, Elizabeth Woolverton, Jane Kitchen, Rachel Reily, Lydia Parlee & unmarried daughters Anna, Mary, Hannah & Catherine. It seems reasonable to me that John Robins b. 1695 wouldn't have under age children in 1775. From a file John Taylor received from Marfy Goodspeed, she proposes the above John Robins had two wives. His sons John & Daniel by his 1st wife & the rest of the children by Elener. Ms Goodspeed has no source for this information but it does present another possibility. If this were to be true, then maybe some of the married daughters were by his 1st wife. 1750, March 6. John Robins of Gloucester Co. From a copy of the original, the administrator ,Thomas Duell was a Quaker. This John Robins isn't from the 5-Richard line. He may also have been a Quaker like his administrator. John Robins son of Benjamin Robins, Sr. He was b. abt. 1726 and was a prominent man in Allentown. A source, Charles R. Hutchinson writes, " John Robins was in his day distinguished from the others of his name by the appellation of John Robins, Blacksmith." 1775, March 14, will of Richard Robbins son of 5-Richard. 1777, Oct. 4, will of Richard's son John Robbins, Sr. born 3/29/1719 d. 11/28/1780 His grandson John Robbins, Jr. born 4/30/1755 d. 8/25/1823. This is one of my 5-Richard lines. The will of Richard Robbins, Jr was written on March 14, 1755, he died on March 27, 1755 & his inventory was taken on April 1, 1755. Please note that the dates of March 20, 1751 for his will & April 1, 1751 for his inventory comes from the Robbins papers published in late 1890's by well known Cumberland Co., historian Charles E. Sheppard. These dates are incorrect. Copies of the original will & inventory indicate the dates as I have listed. Family Bible record gives his death date on March 27, 1755. 1777, Feb. 22, will of Joseph Robins, wife Leah Clayton Robins. Joseph Robins was born according to the Bible record of Elijah Robins "10th Day of the 5th Month 1710." Joseph & Leah's son John Robins was born "6th, 7th Month, 1751. Another John Robins close to June's 1740 proposed cut off date is , John King Robins was born 1745, son of Moses Robins, Jr. Charles R. Hutchinson records J. K. Robins had a son who moved to NY but didn't seem to know his 1st name or if J.K. Robins had any other children. There was a John Robins who lived in Cumberland Co. & may have been born as early as 1710 to 1715. He had a wife Mary & children Jeremiah b. 1735, Elias 1737, Mary 1739 , Susannah abt. 1743 & Jeremiah 1744. This John Robins died before Feb. 7, 1781. It's been said he was the unborn child of 5-Richard & his 2nd wife. However, there has never been any record to link him to 5-Richard, only that he lived in the Salem/Cumberland area. He isn't mentioned nor any of his children in any known document concerning 5- Richard's other children. 1762, May 26, John Robins, Cumberland Co., who died intestate with Matthew Parvin of "Dearfield" as his administrator. There is a possibility this may be the above John Robins but I have no documentation for it. After all the John Robins reviews recently, it prompted me to go back through my notes on the Parvin family to see if there was a relationship between John Robbins 1769 & Matthew & Silas Parvin his administrator & bondsman. Catherine Holmes Bacon Robins was the daughter of the Rev. Obadiah Holmes, Jr & Elizabeth Cooke & the sister of Jonathan Holmes who married Susannah Miller. Jonathan & Susannah's daughter Rebecca Holmes married Thomas Parvin of Cohansey. Will of Thomas Parvin of Salem Co. weaver Jan. 5, 1742, wife Rebecca, sons Josiah, Matthew, Jeremiah & Silas. Daughters Sarah, Elizabeth (wife of Moses Moore) & Hannah (wife of Thomas Sayres, Jr.) Mentions the Cedar Swamp he owned at Morries River & plantation at Cohansey. This leads to Catherine Holmes Robins as the great-aunt of Matthew & Silas Parvin. If the John Robbins of 1762 was the son of 5-Richard & Catherine Holmes, then Matthew & Silas were his 2nd cousins. The names of the children of John Robbins include Jeremiah & Susannah. These names are not used in the 5-Richard line but are found in the Holmes line. Since we don't know the maiden name of John's wife Mary, she may have also had a Holmes/Parvin link. John Robbins bought 600 acres of land from Samuel Atkinson on April 6, 1744 in Salem Co & on July 1, 1784 his son Elias as the "son & heir at law of John Robbins, deceased" sold 200 acres of this land to Providence Ludlam. From this we can conclude John Robbins died between 1744 & 1784 & most likely is the John Robbins who died intestate in 1769. There is supposed to be history on John Robbins father of Elias in the Bonham Family papers but I've never been able to find them. Sara
