Family Search Mercer County, New Jersey Grantee Deeds, Volume C, 1840-1841 Page 571-572 Film #825474 DGS #8576543 Image 323-324 Camden and Amboy Rail Road & Transportation Company To John S Lake This Indenture made this first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one Between the Camden and Amboy Rail Road and Transportation Company party of the first part and John S Lake of South Trenton party of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty Dollars lawful money of the United States to the said party of the first part in hand well and truly paid by the said party of the second part before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said party of the first part do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents Do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns All that certain Lot of Twenty feet front on Union street in Bloomsbury in the County of Mercer and Township of Nottingham and State of New Jersey, it being a part of the property purchased of Amos Briggs by the Delaware and Raceton Canal and Camden and Amboy Rail Road and Transportation Companies. Beginning fronting or in width twenty feet on the East side of Union Street and from thence extending at right angles thereto North eighty nine degrees East the same width Twenty feet by a lot late of Benjamin Fish now John S Lake on the North side thereof and extending one hundred and fifty feet back to an alley or land of Philemon Dickerson Together with all and singular the buildings improvements ways woods waters water courses rights liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reverse on and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof. And also all the estate right title interest use possession property claim and demands whatsoever both in law and equity of the said party of the first part of in and to the same To Have and To hold the hereditaments and premises hereby granted and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said the Camden and Amboy Rail Road and Transportation Company party aforesaid of the first for themselves and their successors do hereby covenant promise and grant to and with the said John S Lake party to the second part his heirs and assigns that at the time of the sealing and delivery hereof the said party of the first part are seized in their own right of an absolute and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in all and singular the premises hereby granted with the appurtenances and have good right full power and sufficient authority in the law to grant bargain sell and convey the same unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning of these presents: And also that it shall and may be lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns at all times forever hereafter peaceably and quietly to have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof without the lawful let suit eviction interruption or disturbance of the said party of the first part or their successors or any other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same And that the said premises are free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted and discharged of and from all former mortgages judgments executions and of and from all other incumbrances whatever. And lastly that the said party of the first part and their successors all and singular the hereditaments and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against them the said party of the first part and their successors and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same shall and will warrant and forever defend. In Witness Whereof the said parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Robert L Stevens Camden & Amboy Signed Sealed and delivered in presense of Benjn Fish Wm R Road H Maxwell Trans Co City and County of New York ss: On the 14th day of April 1841 Before me William H Maxwell Commissioner under the act of the Legislature of the State of New Jersey passed Dec 27th 1826 personally appeared Robert L Stevens (a resident of the City of New York) personally well known to me to be the Individual who has executed the within deed who being by me duly sworn according to law did on his oath depose and say he is the President of the Camden and Amboy Rail Road and Transportation Company that the seal affixed by order and authority of the Board of Directors of said Company, He then acknowledged he signed and delivered the said deed as his official (& free) act and deed as President aforesaid and for the uses and purposes therein mentioned the contents of the said deed being first made known to him Wm H Maxwell Commissioner Received from John S Lake sixty dollars in cash and bond and mortgage for one hundred Dollars in full of consideration money Benjn Fish for C & A R Co Recorded April 27th 1841 Ralph H Shreve Clerk
