Family Search Hunterdon County, New Jersey Deeds, Vol. 56, 1833-1834 Page 350-353 Film #806992 DGS #8351397 Image 191-192 John Green & wife to John S Lake This Indenture made this fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three Between John Green of the Township of Trenton in the county of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey and Elizabeth his wife party of the first part and John S Lake of the Township of Lawrence county and state aforesaid party of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of twenty Dollars and forty cents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold aleened enfeoffed released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns all that certain lot of land situate in the Township of Lawrence aforesaid and is butted and bounded as follows viz, Beginning at a large white oak tree corner to Charles Reeder and Ralph Lanning thence with Lannings line North seventy one degrees and a half West three chains and eighty eight links to a stone corner to Ralph Laning thence with his line North fifteen degrees and a quarter East two chain and forty five links to a stone corner to said John Greens other land thence with said Greens line south seventy degrees and a quarter East four chains and fifty links to a stone corner to said Green in said Reeders line thence with said Reeders line south thirty two degrees and a half west two chains and forty five links to the place of Beginning containing one acre and two hundredths of Land be the same more or less together with all and singular the rights liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appirtaining and the revisions and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and of every part and parcel thereof also all the Estate right title interest use possession property claim demand whatsoever both in law and equity of them the said party of the first part of in and to the same to have and to hold the said land hereditaments and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Green for his heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant promise and grant to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that at the time of the sealing and delivery hereof they the said party of the first part were seized in their own right of an absolute and indefeasible Estate of inheritance in fee simple of in and to the san [EDITORS NOTE: I could not make out this word “san, seen, or same”] singular the premises hereby granted with the appurtenances and have good right full power and sufficient authority in law to grant bargain sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid and according to the true intent and meaning of these presents and also that it may or shall be lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns at all times forever hereafter peacibly and quietly to have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said premises with the appurtenances without the lawful let suit eviction interruption or disturbance of the said party of the first part their heirs and assigns and that the said premises are free and clear and freely and clearly acquited and discharged of and from all former mortgages judgements executions and of all other incumbrances whatever done commited or suffered by the said party of the first part and lastly that they the said party of the first part and their heirs all and singular the said land and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against all persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same by from or under the said party of the first part shall and will warrant and forever defend in witness whereof the said parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Eighteen hundred and thirty three before me Daniel Cook one of the Judges of the Court of common pleas in said county personally appeared John Green and Elizabeth his wife and I being satisfied they were the grantors mentioned in the foregoing deed and the contents thereof being by me made known to them acknowledged they signed sealed and delivered the same as their voluntary act and deed for the use and purposes therein expressed and the said Elizabeth Green being by me privately examined separate and apart from her husband did acknowledge that she signed sealed and delivered the same without any fear threats dread or compulsion from her husband whatever.
