From: "Hank & Peggy Oswald" Date: Sun, 19 Oct 2003 20:50:32 -0400 I believe that you questioned why I had John Lake Sr. b. before 1728, son of Daniel Lake b. 1696 married to a Jane Longstreet. I was going through some old records and I found the following information. Records from the Freehold-Middletown Dutch Reformed Church Monmouth Co. Born to Derek Van Cleef and Elizabeth Lake : Benjamin bapt. May 29, 1743 Daniel bapt. January 13, 1745 Elizabeth bapt. Dec. 18, 1748 Hendrikje bapt. Dec. 22, 1751 witness was widow of Benjamin Van Cleef Also baptized in this church were Elizabeth Lake, bapt. May 20, 1750 dau. of Johannes Lake and Mayke Langstraat (longstreet) Witnesses were Derek Van Cleef and E. Lake John Lake and Elizabeth were siblings. On page 14 of Adams and Risleys book more info is found regarding the Longstreets. I have a Gisbert Longstreet Sr. marrying a Rachel? and having the following children....Jane, Garret, Gisbert Jr., Nelley, Rachel, Elizabeth and Mayke. Seeing how the baptismal records show a Mayke being the mother of Elizabeth...I wonder if she was the only wife of John or did he also marry the sister Jane???? I had that the source of the Jane being the wife coming from Gisbert's will. The Longstreet Family were from Shewsbury, Monmouth Co. NJ
